1961年出生于哈尔滨，1987年毕业于哈尔滨师范大学美术系，同年任教于黑龙江农垦兵团教育学院和美术教育学会秘书长，后任职南京工业职业技术大学，1991年8月参加欧洲传统油画材料（法国伊维尔）油画技法研究班，1992年去列宾美术学院研修，1996、97年香港举办刘剑波油画展，2019年上海M50创意区举办刘剑波、代桂艳双人展。

Liu, Jianbo was born in 1961; Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang, China. In 1987, he graduated from School of Art, Harbin Normal University. In the same year, he started his teaching career at Heilongjiang Agricultural Reclamation (Corps) Education College. He pursued as the secretary of Arts Education Association. In August 1991, he had a professional development in European Materials Research Society related to traditional European materials and techniques of French Iville. In 1992, he studied abroad in Russian Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. In 1996 and 1997, he held two individual oil painting exhibitions in Hong Kong, China. In 2019, Jianbo Liu and Guiyan Dai held their corporate art exhibition in “50 Moganshan Road (M50)" of Shanghai, China.

我是剑波高两届的同学，读书时他就有着良好艺术素养和绘画基础，他刻苦努力，成绩优异，在大学期间完成的创作作品《慢车厢》参加首届中国油画作品展，此作品表现了长期生活在北方人对生命意义的理解与感悟，体现出对未来生活的美好向往……

毕业后他追求与创造美的渴望，不断地努力执着探索，在长期教学与实践中渐渐地开辟了自己特有观察方式与表现方法，他的油画作品或以色彩明快的花卉表现中国传统题材与西方印象派色彩表现技法“中西”结合；或以北方白雪与江南徽派白墙灰瓦建筑压缩彩色的“南北”融合。剑波无论是在俄罗斯学习还是在国内教学和创作中，他是个勤奋者，他的油画作品将现实纷繁的世界提炼到一个唯美的境界，让人们感到轻松笔触和对生活积极向上的美好追求，同时通过绘画过程来体验：具体形象的理解与表现，捕捉着现实与心灵的真情实感，并把这种真实感受传达到自己每一幅作品中……

“绘画是吾人思想、感情和灵性的具体表现”，这自然与他的性格与做人浑然为一体，故此更加让人觉得真诚可信，画如其人。剑波学弟已经是人生的秋季，陈年醇酒，正是创作不朽作品的好时光。

There is a quote from a popular poem of Song Dynasty, “When I have free time during this fresh and cool autumn, let me play a chant of ‘Million Dragons’ with my lute”.

Liu, Jianbo and I studied at the same university. When we met each other, I was in my senior year at the school and he was junior. Even though, he was just a student learned oil painting, I had already noticed his artistic talent. His excellent artistic attainments and solid painting techniques impressed me. He accomplished a phenomenal oil-painting called “Man Chexiang” when he was in college and it was exhibited in the first China Oil Painting Exhibition. The painting demonstrated his unique understanding of life, living in northern China. He also presented his best wishes towards his future life.

After he graduated, he continuously chased his dream and tried his best to create and seize any opportunities to become a better artist. During his longitudinal practice and teaching experience, he has generated his own methods and techniques of creating arts and painting. His oil-paintings perfectly demonstrate Chinese traditions via colorful and exuberant flowers. He also combines western impressionism painting techniques in his paintings, which is known as the “East-west combo”.

Additionally, some of his oil-paintings combine diverse elements, such as combining northern China’s white snow and southern Yangtze River’s Hui-style white and black architectures, associating with compressed colors, which has a special name called “South-north combo” oil-painting style.

Jianbo is a hard worker. He has always been looking for something new and pursuing neo-artistic painting style. He studied art in Russia and has been working in China for decades. His oil-paintings indicate aestheticism, providing audiences a feeling of peace and positive attitude.

Meanwhile, Jianbo really enjoys physical process and emotional experience that drawing brings to him, allowing him to experience happiness of life associated with art creation. He can easily capture the real feelings of the reality and the heart, and convey them into every piece of his art...

"Painting is the specific expression of my thought, emotion, and spirituality," this is naturally the same with his personality and behave, which is more reliable and sincere, as if the painting is him. It is already the autumn of my academic younger brother, Jianbo's life, an aging wine, which he is right at the time to create immortal works.
