这枚“太平天国”大花钱（见图），外径105、穿径25毫米，重228.5克。钱面“太平天国”四字，对读，是国号也是年号。我国古钱币中，国号、年号并在一起的有“大夏真兴”“大辽天庆”“大元至治”，但国号和年号合二为一的钱文，则只有“太平天国”钱币。此枚“太平天国”花钱上的图纹，正面四周是“二龙抢珠”，背面四周是“八宝”图案。“二龙抢珠”图案，也有称它为“双龙捧日”的。双龙尾间图纹，称“寿山福海”，但亦有称为“海水朝天圭”的，都是寓意吉瑞。
